The 2021 Gift Guide for Photographers

It’s that time of year! Holiday gift guides are rolling out. This is the complete Christmas list for the photographer in your life. You can also watch it on YouTube here!

Gift Idea #1: Something sentimental.
A photobook! This is ideal for family members. If you don’t have time to put together a scrapbook consider buying a photo frame with 3-5 image slots and gift that instead.

Gift Idea #2: Something that’ll make them go “oh DUH!”.
A belt bag that can be worn cross-body. This is my favorite one because it can hold my essentials (phone, extra camera battery, some hand sanitizer) and is under $40.

Gift Idea #3: Something for them to do.
Film photography! Gift them a few rolls of film stock & a 35mm camera. This camera could either be a point & shoot or a SLR. I teach film photography on YouTube and have a handful of videos they can watch to get started in film photography ASAP. Check out the below & send this list their way:

📄 My favorite film labs

Gift Idea #4: Something boring that they’d never spend their money on.
Camera accessories. YAWN! These are probably the least fun to spend hard-earned money on (besides SD cards & batteries) but are necessary to a smooth photoshoot. On KEH you can score camera accessories of all kinds at up to 40% off. Use the code JWSHOP for an additional 5% off your purchase. What I recommend is to buy them a battery grip for their camera.

Gift Idea #5: Something to inspire them.
A physical magazine subscription that arrives to their actual mailbox every month. This could be to a photo magazine or a publication such as Vogue.

Gift Idea #6: Something to keep them on track.
The “Artist of Life” workbook was shared in my 2020 Christmas Gift Guide and I loved it so much I have to share it again. This year, I was kindly gifted the Artist of Life Workbook and the 2021 planner. You can use the code JESSICAWHITAKER10 for extra savings!

Gift Idea #7: Something you can do together.
Experiences can make the best gifts. Take a photo road trip together but only bring disposable film cameras to document your time.
