Lesbian Couple Engagement Photoshoot at Volunteer Park, Seattle during Cherry Blossom Season
Nellie and Nora are a lesbian WLW couple who got engaged, and for their wedding gift, I did their engagement photoshoot. We planned the session for Volunteer Park in Seattle, right up on Capitol Hill, during the peak of spring. Spring at the greenhouse is one of the most gorgeous spots in the city once the cherry blossoms, daffodils, and pink magnolia trees start blooming.
The daffodil field is a hidden gem on the outskirts of the park, and the whole hillside was covered in yellow blooms. My photography style is true to life while still being colorful, because we are in the Pacific Northwest and the greens and blooms deserve to actually show up in the photos. I am wanting to get back into wedding photography, and I have been combing through my archives for bridal and engagement images to share as I build that side of my portfolio back up.
It's important to me to highlight queer couples in my work if I am going to start photographing weddings again, and Nellie and Nora are my close friends, so getting to shoot this engagement session for them was very special.
