I’m not very tech-savvy, so even though I embrace new technology, it can be hard for me to navigate, making me apprehensive to try new things. 1. The program is super fast to use from the very start. It’s available to download for Mac or PC. When you fire it up, it prompts you to sync your Lightroom catalog with 3,000 edited images so the program can familiarize itself with your different editing styles. I have just one editing style; they call it a “profile”, and I named it “Jessica,” but you can have as many as you’d like. Your individual AI profile is generated by Imagen through the evaluation of your prior photo edits. The AI profile can then be applied to your new photos in Lightroom Classic. 3. Once Imagen had familiarized itself with my editing style, I loaded up my first photoshoot. It was an engagement session shot in a vibrant garden in full shade and dabbled backlighting. I also selected the “alignment” option because I am very particular about aligning almost all of my images. You’re transported into Lightroom, and my jaw was on the floor when I saw the images. Every image was edited how I would have done it myself (technically, it was myself!), and the alignment was perfect. I brought down the contrast on a few photos, but that was it; it was straight to exporting!

Instead of using one set of parameters from a single image for an entire catalog, presets require photographers to make significant adjustments to every individual photo. On the other hand, Imagen's AI examines and evaluates each picture to determine the appropriate parameters necessary to achieve the desired style. As a result, each image has its own customized settings that meet its unique needs.
